One of the goals of the Montessori philosophy of education is the self-regulation of the child. According to Maria Montessori, the child can regulate his or her conduct in a way that is suitable to the situation. Due to the pandemic that hinders the child to be in school physically, Rosemont Hills Montessori College (RHMC) creates a virtual classroom as a preparatory environment to adhere to the new normal. Our virtual classroom provides a different experience but still provides an environment that promotes discipline, independence, interaction, and support to our students.
Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child open up himself to life. - Maria Montessori
With schools transitioning to the online method of education, a “cloud-based education” is a standard in the new normal. In partnership with Globe myBusiness, RHMC introduces VirtRAiLS (Virtual Rosemont Academic i-Learning System), powered by Brightspace D2L, one of the leading provider Learning Management System (LMS) in the world. Brightspace LMS is an e-learning platform equipped with a variety of tools that can support online experiences for students and faculty. It is designed to promote collaboration and communication among students, staff, and teachers. With it, educators can design courses, create teaching materials using multimedia content, and measure the students’ progress through quizzes and surveys that will provide the best possible experience for learners. Due to its ease of use, teachers can create, host, and manage online learning resources, design and implement instruction in differentiated methods to keep students engaged. The system can also track attendance, present the class list, and send updates and announcements to all stakeholders. It can be used on any device to optimize learning on the go.
All students enrolled for the SY 2020-2021 will automatically be given access to VirtRAIL. Classes will be held from Monday to Friday and each subject will be assigned 2 hours. During the class, teachers’ lectures will last 20 minutes but not longer than 30 minutes, however, activities for that particular subject will be given for students to do while the subject teacher stays online to answer any questions. No internet? No problem. All lessons are recorded so, therefore, classes can be conducted synchronously or asynchronously. All assignments, discussions, quizzes, exams, etc. will be posted inside VirtRAIL for students to access at any time of the day. Modules can be saved in a USB where students will be able to access all the lessons. All lessons offer inspiring and engaging learning for all as it offers every learner a highly personalized, digital experience, and simulation of real-life problem-based experiences, right in the comfort of your own homes.
The sudden leap into online classes may probably cause anxiety to many parents. The goal of RHMC for online learning at this current times is to help our students remain engaged academically and to retain knowledge that they have gained throughout the school year. VirtRAIL will be accessed by parents as well to follow and monitor the progress of their children on a daily basis. The parents and students will be given proper orientation and training prior to the start of the classes to help them be comfortable in navigating VirtRAIL.
